Hot art. Making art in a warming planet

As the theme of climate emergency enters (at last!) the mainstream, and we start adapting to the stark reality of a warming and rapidly changing planet, transformations spread further than our ecosystems, infiltrating the ways we tell and represent the world, our stories and storytelling, as well as how we make art.
In this unique session, an art curator specialised in ecologic themes and a groundbreaking artist and writer discuss the way in which creative languages are being rethought to face the trauma of a declining planet.
This event will be in English and partly in Italian with English translation provided.

Speakers
Lucia Pietroiusti
is Curator of General Ecology at the Serpentine Galleries in London, where she has also co-curated several editions of the yearly Marathon festival of art, science and technology. She is curator of festivals and art projects, including a durational festival on interspecies consciousness, and the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale 2019 (awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation).
Alex Cecchetti
is an artist, poet and choreographer. He is the creator of a programme of poetry and science, Voices of Urgency, at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He has performed and exhibited at Fiorucci Art Trust (London), Serpentine Galleries (London), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), MAXXI (Rome), CAC (Vilnius), and other international art institutions.
Chair
Martha Dillon
is the editor of It’s Freezing in LA!, an independent magazine about climate change that looks at environmentalism through multidisciplinary writing and original illustrations. Her interest is in environmental communication, the sustainable built environment and community resilience to climate change and disasters.
