The “beautiful game” is now more than ever a metaphor for broader society. David Winner and Emanuele Atturo will discuss English and Italian football as entertainment, passion and as a cultural phenomenon. 

Replaying the infamous 2021 Euro football final in a field of ideas, this conversational game will discuss what football means today for two of the most outspoken nations.

Emanuele Atturo is director of L'Ultimo Uomo, an Italian cult publication about sports and culture. He wrote Roger Federer è esistito davvero (66thand2nd, 2021).

David Winner

David Winner is an English author and journalist. His best-known books are Those Feet: An Intimate History of English Football (Harry N. Abrams, 2013) and Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius of Dutch Football (Bloomsbury, 2000). Brilliant Orange was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year in 2000.
